Some companies just don't know what they're doing. Some will install draining above the bottom of the footing. Others will make different mistakes.  The following photo gallery shows additional examples of poor design that could lead to water drainage problems:

Bad piping placement
Pipe above the bottom of the footing. (Feb. 05)

Rock piping
10" of rock put this pipe above the level
of the footing and crawlspace. Think,
where will the water go? (Apr. 05)

Footing pipeline
Putting the drain line at the footing
practically ensures that the
crawlspace will have water. (Nov. 04)

Damaged pipeline
Damaged pipe draining above the bottom
of the footing. (Feb. 03)

Frozen drain problem
This drain will freeze solid during the winter,
causing water to go into the crawlspace instead.
No one thought about it, because it works
"most of the time". (May 06)

Drilling holes
This hole is about 12" across and 6' deep.
Most of the time, drilling is a waste of
time & money, with such holes failing
within a year or two.

Fan drying
Trying to dry out 2" of standing water with fans
is a waste of homeowner time and money.
You have to fix the problem before drying is useful.
